Why this matters more than tidiness

The bank isn’t refusing you because your business is bad. It’s refusing you because it can’t see it.

Banks turn small businesses down over what they cannot assess, not what they have assessed badly. The Development Bank of Jamaica built an entire voucher programme around it — MSMEs refused credit over “gaps in management capacity.” It is a large part of why emergency borrowing here runs at 18 to 24 per cent.
